OTTUMWA, Iowa (AP) — The men’s shelter in Ottumwa will be closing after more than 10 years of operation.
The Ottumwa Courier reports (http://bit.ly/10ST0GM) that the Ottumwa Community Outreach Ministry will be serving its last meal on Friday.
The ministry’s board president, Marty Schmidt, says the shelter has been serving 50 to 100 meals a day.
Schmidt says the decision to close the center was based an inability to maintain an active board of directors as well as “dwindling financial resources.”
