Officials say Iowa state park open after flooding

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — A state park in northeast Iowa has reopened after concerns about flooding, though its campground remains closed.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports ( ) the George Wyth State Park is open. Park Manager Lori Eberhard says the Brinker Lake campground will remain closed for the next several days.

Flooding caused by the Cedar River still covers some portions of the trails. Officials are urging visitors to avoid those areas.

Eberhard says an upcoming triathlon at the park’s lake will proceed as scheduled, though public access to the lake will be restricted during the event.

Officials say they hope to expand cleanup efforts next week.
