DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A popular park near downtown Des Moines that was closed because of high water from flooding has reopened.
Des Moines Parks and Recreation says Gray’s Lake Park and its concession stand reopened Monday afternoon.
Beach access remains closed and watercraft rentals are prohibited until officials determine the water is safe for public use. The west side of the Principal Riverwalk is open, and additional trial segments continue to open.
Officials have been cleaning up the park following heavy spring flooding from the Raccoon River, which covered parts of the trail.
