Authorities say car in Altoona flips onto top

ALTOONA, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say a car crash in central Iowa left a car flipped completely onto its top.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened Tuesday morning in Altoona near Highway 65. Sarah Newsom, of Ankeny, is accused of running a red light and hitting a vehicle driven by Connie Horton, of Ottumwa.

Des Moines station KCCI-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1btyga2 ) Horton’s vehicle flipped completely onto its top. It’s unclear if others were involved in the crash.

The station reports Newsom was ticketed, but additional information was not available.
