CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) — The Cedar Falls City Council for now has tabled talk of making the city’s mayor a part-time post.
A budget task force last month suggested the shift, which would take place in January 2016. But the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier says (http://bit.ly/19llLAt) the issue remained tabled after a vote to bring it back for discussion was defeated at Monday’s City Council meeting.
The council now will focus on an alternative plan from Mayor Jon Crews. The proposal would clarify the role of a full-time mayor and create the position of city administrator, who would supervise the city’s departmental directors. The administrator would report to the mayor.
Also, the city’s administrative services division would be restructured during a two-year trial period.
