OSKALOOSA, Iowa (AP) — Authorities in southern Iowa continue to investigate a collision between a vehicle and tractor that caused two teenagers to be airlifted to area hospitals.
The Ottumwa Courier reports (http://bit.ly/19qFJdf ) a 17-year-old Knoxville teenager was driving Tuesday on Highway 163 near Oskaloosa when his Toyota Camry hit the back of a John Deere tractor pulling a field planter. The driver of the tractor, Randal DeJong, was not seriously hurt.
The teenage driver’s name has not been released. He and 18-year-old Derek Springer, of Bussey, were both injured and airlifted to hospitals in Iowa City and Des Moines. It’s unclear if Springer was a passenger in the Toyota. Details about the teenagers’ conditions were not available.
