KIMT NEWS 3 – Things are heading east, as this multiple stores are passing through.
And with all of this severe weather, a storm system referred to as a derecho could have formed.
It’s essentially like a hurricane on land, and forms when a storm of strong straight-line winds form, and span at least 240 miles.
Cerro Gordo County Emergency Management Coordinator, Steve O’Neil, says its one storm system he hopes many in our area don’t experience.
“The fact that it is so unique and somewhat rare and just to think of such a large path of destruction just kind of boggles the mind,” said O’Neil.
O’ Neil also stresses to keep your weather radio on when weather like this is happening.
