NORTHWOOD, IA — County fair season has officially started.
And the state of Iowa’s first fair is also the first in our viewing area.
The Worth County Fair began earlier today in Northwood.
Exhibits, live stock shows, and a carnival are all part of this year’s event.
Leaders say being the first fair the state allows them to bring the best entertainment and fair atmosphere for families and the community.
“A lot of those groups get taken up by fairs that happen in July,” Worth County Extension Education Specialist Dennis Johnson said. “So, we found out we have easier access to some entertainment, carnivals, things like that by having a fair in June.”
He says it takes work from the whole community to make the event even possible.
The fair runs through Sunday.
