FOREST CITY, IA — A local group that works to help veterans and their families is getting some recognition.
The Family Alliance for Veterans of America, or FAVA, is named the 2013 Champion Community Service Partner for Iowa.
The award was presented by Experience Works, which says FAVA offers an outstanding partnership in helping older workers overcome obstacles and serve their community.
“The individuals we placed here receive definite skill training and really helps them become more self-sufficient and ready to enter into the job market,” State Director of Experience Works Dick Freeman said.
FAVA provides information, education and other services to support veterans and their families.
