Northern Iowa braces for storms, possible flooding

GREENE, Iowa (AP) — Northern Iowa cities are bracing for another possible round of flooding over the weekend as a storm system is expected to dump additional rain on already full rivers and streams.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for about 28 counties stretching from Spencer to the northeast corner of the state.

A flood warning was issued Friday for the Cedar and Shell Rock rivers in areas including Cedar Falls, Waterloo, and Shell Rock.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (http://bit.ly/18DKssx ) some business owners in Greene are moving merchandise and equipment to higher ground.

Greene River Days, the annual town festival scheduled for Friday and Saturday, is being held at the town’s community center because the original location at Perrin Park is under water.
