BELMOND, IA - Severe weather continues the continues to hit north Iowa communities hard and today is no different.
Belmond is among the hardest hit areas with damage to many area businesses like you see here.
As the storms continue, some clean up efforts are suspended until the severe weather passes.
However, city officials say that they plan on still trying to continue area recovery in any way they can.
“I think things are going well. Today we are gonna have some thunder storms. I think and we’re probably not gonna get much done outside but a few of them do have inside tasks to do. I think that’s where they’ll be focusing their attention,” said Lee Ann Waltzing of Belmond.
While Waltzing says they’re fortunate to have so many volunteers helping out, they hope Mother Nature will also start cooperating.
“It’s gonna start blowing things again and possibly now we’re gonna have more property owners affected because the stuff will be going into their property. I think that a lot of that outside stuff did get taken care of,” said Waltzing.
