FREDERICKSBURG, Iowa (AP) — Chickasaw County authorities say they believe someone stole three dogs from a house in rural Fredericksburg, following allegations that the animals were neglected.
KWWL-TV in Waterloo reports (http://bit.ly/12ODVsY ) that two Coonhounds and a terrier mix have gone missing from the home.
Chickasaw County Sheriff Todd Miller says in a statement that a deputy evaluated the dogs on Friday after receiving a complaint. Miller says seven Coonhounds and the terrier-type mix were found on the property, but the dogs had adequate shelter, sustenance and water.
Authorities say the conditions did not meet the legal requirements to qualify as animal neglect.
Neighbors have complained about the dogs’ living conditions, saying the house has been abandoned.
