POSTVILLE, Iowa (AP) — Three people have been injured in an explosion at a manufacturing plant in northeast Iowa.

The blast and fire at the Norplex-Micarta composite laminates plant was reported around 1:20 a.m. Monday.

Postville Fire Chief Jeff Bohn says one of the three injured has been flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. A second injured person was treated at a local hospital and released. The third injured person declined treatment at the scene.

The plant’s fire sprinkler system helped hold down the flames from the fire that followed the blast.
