MASON CITY, IA – It was a day for the dogs at one area town’s city council meeting, and it was all to get support for a dog park.

Dogs were waging in to the City Council meeting Tuesday night.

Community members were invited to bring their dogs by Mayor Eric Bookmeyer to help show that the City Council was all for the dog park coming.

Pat Otto, a local supporter of the dog park, says it was a site to see.

“It’s really exciting its like throwing a party and not knowing if anyone is going to come so i’m really excited to see people coming in with their dogs,” sais Otto.

Otto says the City Council hadn’t officially approved the dog park until Tuesday night.

They hope to the park ready by August.
