New postmaster will begin work in Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — An installation ceremony is set for Des Moines’ new postmaster.

Cheryl A. Love will be installed as Des Moines’ 35th postmaster on Friday at the Des Moines Civic Center.

Love has worked at the Postal Service for 29 years.

She began her career as a letter carrier in Omaha, Neb., in 1984.

She has worked as the officer in charge of the Des Moines Post Office since fall 2012. Earlier, she worked as a manager at the Hawkeye District Office in Windsor Heights.

Love will oversee the delivery of mail to more than 200,000 customers in the Des Moines metro area, which includes nine postal stations and branches and more than 500 workers.
