DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Des Moines police have identified a man crushed between a truck and a trailer as a 37-year-old Des Moines resident.
Police identified the man Thursday as Michael Dale Grant.
He was killed Wednesday afternoon in an industrial lot east of downtown.
The man was operating a recycling truck that became inoperable. A towing company driver responded, loaded the recycling truck onto a tow vehicle and was backing it into a location to be stored overnight.
The recycling truck driver was helping guide the tow truck driver when he walked into the path of the disabled truck and became pinned between the vehicle and a trailer.
Upon realizing the man had been crushed, the tow truck driver began administering CPR. The man was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.
