AUSTIN, MN – Whether it’s a fire or a tornado, a local organization is looking for volunteers to help when disaster strikes.
The Freeborn-Mower Chapter of the American Red Cross is holding an informational meeting on Monday for anyone interested in becoming an American Red Cross disaster volunteer.
From the tornadoes in Oklahoma, to wildfires in Colorado, the Red Cross says disasters such as these have left them looking for help.
“The need is urgent,” Executive Director Elaine Hansen said. “We’re looking for people who might be interested in getting involved. And this meeting is a way for you to come and get more information and see what it would take for you to answer that call to help when families are devastated by disaster.”
That meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. at the Red Cross office in Albert Lea.
If you’re interested in attending, you are asked to contact the Freeborn-Mower Chapter of the American Red Cross.
