Men steal more than money from Des Moines store

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Two men who robbed a Des Moines convenience store grabbed more than money.

They made off with the hard drive to the store’s surveillance system.

The Des Moines Register reports ( ) the men pointed a gun at a clerk who was opening the Tobacco Outlet Plus store Thursday morning. They demanded he let them in, then forced him to open the safe and took about $6,000.

The men then opened the CD tray of the video surveillance system and asked where the recording was. When the employee answered it was recorded on a hard drive, police say the men unplugged the hard drive and carried it away.

They also stole lottery tickets and cigarettes.
