Iowa man arrested after bike crash that hurt son

ROCK FALLS, Iowa (AP) — A Mason City man has been charged by police with his third offense of drunken driving, as well as child endangerment, following a motorcycle crash that hurt his 6-year-old son.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/11UoJDg) that 32-year-old James Francis has also been charged with failure to maintain control, no insurance, violation of a court order to use an ignition interlock device and driving while suspended.

Police say Francis’ 6-year-old son was riding on the motorcycle his father was driving when it crashed into a ditch Saturday near Rock Falls in northern Iowa.

The boy was taken to a hospital for injuries. His condition is not known.

Francis was being held Sunday in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond.
