Reward offered in Moorhead man’s killing

MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) — Moorhead police are offering a $1,000 reward for information in the killing of an 87-year-old man.

Police are looking for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever killed Henry “Hank” Volochenko last week.

Volochenko’s body was discovered in his home Wednesday night by a friend. Preliminary autopsy results indicate Volochenko was killed in an apparent assault. Police have said he died as a “result of trauma by homicidal violence.”

The Forum (http://bit.ly/147VrW0) reports police also say Volochenko’s black walking cane is missing. Police are urging residents, particularly those in the downtown area, to look through their property for the cane and anything else unusual.

Police haven’t said if they suspect the cane was used in the assault.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is helping with the investigation.
