DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Republican state Rep. Mark Lofgren says he will run to represent Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District.
In a statement Tuesday, the Muscatine lawmaker says he’ll make a formal announcement Wednesday. He says he wants to bring “fiscal responsibility” to Washington.
The seat covers the southeastern part of the state and is currently held by Democrat Rep. Dave Loebsack, who is serving his fourth term. Spokesman Joe Hand says Loebsack will run for re-election.
Lofgren is currently in his second term in the Iowa House of Representatives.
