Police say 1 man slain, 1 wounded in Waterloo

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say a Waterloo man has been slain and another wounded in a shooting outside a grocery store.

Police say the violence occurred around 6:05 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of a Save More store on Franklin Street.

Police identified the dead man as 30-year-old Cederick “Joe” Matlock. The other man was identified as 19-year-old William Burt. He was taken to Covenant Medical Center for treatment.

Witnesses report hearing six or seven shots. No arrests have been reported.
