FLOYD COUNTY, IA – One way to change the way your local government operates is to get involved. And a group of local citizens are doing just that.
About 25 residents from Floyd County have formed a group called the Coalition for Better County Government. They’re currently working to increase the number of Floyd County Supervisors. Right now there are three, but the coalition believes there should be five.
“With the amount of budget and the amount of money they’re controlling and taking care of, I think we need more eyes and ears to represent the citizens of Floyd County,” said coalition member Gordon Boge.
The coalition is holding a meeting Thursday night. It starts at 7pm at Gilbert’s Sale Yard in Floyd. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The coalition is working to get ten percent of county residents to sign a petition. If they get enough signatures, the issue would be placed on a ballot and then would be up for a vote.
