AUSTIN, MN — Crews are hard at work at the Mower County Fairgrounds.
Pieces of the new grandstand have arrived in Austin.
Workers were out this morning pushing dirt around and getting ready to assemble the structure.
The old grandstand was demolished with a controlled burn earlier this year after being deemed unsafe in 2012.
County officials tell us things should start coming together over the next few weeks.
“Which should take in the range of two to two and a half weeks and then we will see, hopefully, see the steel up and the seats in and the roof on and we’ll be able to do the pertinent work around the site to get ready for the fair,” Public Works Director Mike Hanson said.
Hanson says the construction is still on schedule and looks to be done before the Mower County Fair.
