AUSTIN, MN — When we think of birthdays, we tend to think of ourselves.
But one southern Minnesota girls is using hers to help others.
Jaydn Moriarty celebrated her 10th birthday this past week with a party.
But instead of asking for presents, she had a special request of her friends to bring personal care items for the Women’s Leadership Initiative Personal Care closets that are at Austin Elementary Schools.
Together, her and her friends donated 60 personal care items that will go to children in the community.
“They all like shopping for the personal care items and it was more fun than just going out and looking for a present,” 5th Grader Jaydn Moriarty said.
Those items will be part of the women’s leadership initiative’s project this fall.
They will be supplying personal care closets at all Austin Elementary Schools.
Items such as socks, toothbrushes, deodorant and more will be given to families in need.
