EMMONS, MN — The weather did not look the greatest Saturday morning, but some in our area did not let it rain on their parade.

The 13th annual Borderfest is underway in Emmons.

Everything is going on from a parade, to a car and bike show, concerts and more.

The Johnny Holm Band is the headliner Saturday night for the “street dance.” There will be an opening band starting at 8:30 p.m. and Johnny Holm is expected to hit the stage around 9 p.m.

This is a big event for the small town.

“Last year we had probably the biggest turnout I’ve ever seen, we had roughly 13 hundred people year last year for Johnny Holm, so we quadrupled the size in a matter of a couple of hours. This year, it may sound unrealistic, but I’m hoping for 1,500 to 1,700 people tonight,” said Borderfest Chairman, Mark Heggestad.

Free shuttles will run from Albert Lea to Emmons and back from 7 p.m. until 3 a.m. There will be two coming and going from the old Walmart parking lot in the Skyline Plaza on W. Main St.

That shuttle will make stops in Twin Lakes to pick up riders at Pub 69.

There is also a shuttle going from Lake Mills to Emmons and back from 7:30 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. That shuttle will be picking up in the North Municipal City Parking Lot, which is on the north side of Silverado’s Bar.

Those shuttles are free but there is a $15 cover charge for Johnny Holm.
