Iowa man charged in child porn case found dead

DES MIONES, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa man charged with sharing child pornography has been found dead.

The Polk County Sheriff’s office says 48-year-old Paul Thomas Hildreth was found dead shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday at a rural Polk City home.

The sheriff’s office says Hildreth’s death does not appear suspicious, but the case is still being investigated.

Hildreth was facing two charges of sexual exploitation of a minor. He was arrested June 18 because authorities say he shared two images of nude underage girls.

Hildreth told police he wasn’t involved in producing child pornography. Investigators found 1.5 million images on two of his computer hard drives and children’s toys and video games in his basement.
