CLEAR LAKE, IA – The countdown is on to the July 4th holiday and if you’re planning a stop out on Clear Lake don’t plan on drinking.
Extra BWI patrols will be out, as a part of Iowa Department of Natural Resources “Operation Dry Waters”.
It’s an initiative to enforce drinking and boating laws and to bring down the number of boating accidents on the lake.
You are allowed to drink and boat, although it’s not recommended.
Officials say the effects of drinking and boating are increased once you’re out in the sun and the effects often sneak up on boaters very quickly.
