MASON CITY, IA — A Sheffield woman is in the Cerro Gordo County jail on several charges stemming from a crash that happened in April.
Robin Jenks, 39, is charged with Homicide or Serious Injury by Vehicle, three counts of Child Endangerment, Operating While Under the Influence, Failure to Have a Valid License or Permit, Failure to Maintain Control, and Open Container.
KIMT News 3 reported that Jenks was behind the wheel during a serious crash on April 27 that left a five-year-old child in critical condition. The crash happened on Highway 65 near Rockwell when, according to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Jenks lost control and rolled, injuring all five people in the vehicle including three children.
Jaylan Brown was airlifted to Mayo in Rochester where he was then listed in critical condition. We have not received an update on his condition since then, though Cerro Gordo County Sheriff Kevin Pals says the charge of Homicide or Serious Injury by Vehicle is for serious injuries suffered by Brown.
The investigation is ongoing.
