Tropical Storm Dalila strengthens off Mexico coast

MIAMI (AP) — Tropical Storm Dalila (dah-LY-lah) is strengthening as it moves away from Mexico’s Pacific coast and could become a hurricane by Tuesday.

The storm has maximum sustained winds of 70 mph (113 kph). The storm is centered about 290 miles (467 kilometers) southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico, and is moving northwest at 6 mph (10 kph).

The government of Mexico has discontinued tropical storm warnings and watches for the coast.

Dalilia was expected to bring winds and rain accumulations of 1 to 3 inches to the country’s coastline over Monday and into the night.
