AUSTIN, MN — Some high school seniors in our area earned themselves some help paying for college.
Four Austin High School seniors have received the Horatio Alger Hormel Scholarship.
They are chosen based on their commitment to education, dedication to community service and character in overcoming personal obstacles.
Those at the Hormel Foundation said they are proud to be a part of this scholarship.
“We’re into education and one of the things we do is to ensure that all kids, whether they’re bright or whether they’ve had difficulties in their life have the ability to go on and to further their college,” said Hormel Foundation Treasurer, Jerry Anifinson.
Each recipient will receive $20,000 dollars to go toward their college tuition, fees, books and on-campus room and board.
