AUSTIN, MN — Austin leaders tell us they are moving ahead with plans for a new animal shelter.
The city council is saying yes to building a brand new 220,000 dollar city animal shelter.
The new structure will be built next to the mower county humane society’s new building.
It will save the city money by making it easier to transport animals between the city and the humane society.
“The way this is set up, they are going to be easier to clean, easier to maintain, and it’s just much easier,” Austin Mayor Tom Stiehm tells us. “It’s going to be a plus for everybody.”
Construction on the facility could start as soon as September, and could be finished by the end of the year.
