CLEAR LAKE, IA – This summer hasn’t started off with the best weather, but today turned out to be a beautiful independence day and some local businesses are thankful for that.
Cookies Etc. has seen a slower summer season, a trend they say is mostly due to the not-so-cooperative weather; but now that summer has officially kicked off and the weather is cooperating, they say business is booming.
“It’s exciting! We were pleased because we were scared we were going to have a much quieter June but it turned out to be just fine. Obviously this is beautiful and the 4th of July weekend is turning out great,” Owner of Cookies Etc., Mary Jo Branwart said.
The small cookie business has been in clear lake for five summers now and Mary Jo says the Independence Day week tends to be one of their busiest times.
“We see a lot of people that come into town a lot of people that come back because this is what they’ve done as a tradition.”
