Bicyclist killed in hit-and-run in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A young woman who was hit by a vehicle while riding her bicycle has died — and police are still looking for the driver who sped from the scene.

Minneapolis police say the woman was riding at the intersection of 28th and Pleasant Avenue South on Wednesday night when a vehicle sped through a stop sign, with its headlights off, and hit her. The woman died Friday at the hospital.

KBRF-AM reports the woman’s family has identified her as 24-year-old Jessica Hanson.

Police have not confirmed the woman’s identity, and initially said the victim was 20 years old.

Police are seeking the public’s help in finding the person who hit her. They have limited information about the vehicle, and are asking anyone with information to call (612) 692-TIPS.
