Search for missing boater on Iowa lake suspended

STORM LAKE, Iowa (AP) — Diving recovery efforts have been suspended in the search for a Ireton man who went missing after his boat capsized on Storm Lake earlier this week.

The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office tells the Des Moines Register (http://dmreg.co/17Wdjot) that 28-year-old Jaime Adan Jaime-Vazquez went missing after his boat capsized on Storm Lake around 4 p.m. Thursday. Jaime-Vazquez was reportedly not wearing a life vest when he went into the water.

The sheriff’s office says 36-year-old Abel Almamza Troncoso, of Granville, also was on the boat when it capsized. Another boat rescued Troncoso.

Sheriff’s officials say high winds and rough water conditions led recovery efforts to be suspended at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Boats and other watercraft will be used to search for Jaime-Vazquez as soon as weather allows.
