Wells Fargo plans Habitat for Humanity celebration

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Wells Fargo will celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary of its Housing Foundation and its 5,000th volunteer build of a Habitat for Humanity home on Wednesday in Des Moines.

The financial services company became involved with Habitat for Humanity in Des Moines in 1993. Since then, more than $278 million has been raised through the Housing Foundation and volunteers have put in 4.7 million hours to create affordable housing programs across the nation.

Some 500 homes have been built or renovated through the Wells Fargo program each of the past 10 years in low-to-moderate income communities, including 72 in Des Moines.
