Artist will paint flag atop Cedar Falls building

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) — A New York artist will work for several days to paint a rooftop American flag in Cedar Falls.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports ( ) Scott LoBaido, of Staten Island, N.Y., will paint the flag on the roof of the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 building. It will be visible from Iowa Highway 58.

The painting will be done in the days before an Aug. 3 concert at Gateway Park to raise interest in the event, which will raise money for disabled veteran Taylor Morris, of Cedar Falls.

Morris was a Navy explosive ordnance disposal expert who lost parts of four limbs while serving in Afghanistan.

Money raised at the concert will go toward a home that will be equipped with “smart” devices that accommodate Morris’ disability.
