MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis police say they’ve arrested a suspect in the hit-and-run death of a bicyclist.
A police statement says the 24-year-old turned himself in to the homicide unit on Monday morning.
He’s being held in the Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of criminal vehicular operation in the death of 24-year-old Jessica Hanson.
Police say Hanson was bicycling to her boyfriend’s house late Wednesday when she was hit at an intersection in south Minneapolis. Police say the car was speeding and had its lights off when it ran a stop sign. Hanson died Friday.
Police say they located the suspect vehicle Friday evening and gathered additional information that helped them identify the suspect, who turned himself in after investigators began looking for him and making contacts within the community.
