Name released of Iowa man killed inside grain bin

DAYTON, Iowa (AP) — Authorities have identified the man who died after he became trapped in a grain bin in north central Iowa.

The Webster County Sheriff’s Office says 30-year-old Brandon Mullen, of Harcourt, was pulled from the bin Tuesday afternoon near Dayton.

Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Rod Strait says Mullen couldn’t be located so authorities were contacted to cut holes on the side of the bin to release the corn inside. It’s unclear how long he was in the bin.

Des Moines television station KCCI-TV reports (http://bit.ly/12Z3iFS ) Mullen’s body was recovered about 90 minutes after the first emergency call.

Strait says an autopsy will help determine if Mullen had a medical condition.
