FAIRFIELD, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say tests show a Fairfield man was intoxicated and driving before a car crash last year that killed his father.
The Iowa State Patrol says 44-year-old Donald Gridley’s blood alcohol content was above the legal limit during a Dec. 11 crash in Wapello County that killed 65-year-old Patrick Gridley, also of Fairfield.
Authorities later obtained warrants to test Donald Gridley. They included a urine test for his blood content and a test that showed his DNA was collected from the driver’s side of the pick-up involved in the crash.
Donald Gridley was arrested Tuesday night and later posted bond out of Wapello County Jail. He faces several charges, including vehicular homicide, involuntary manslaughter and failure to have a valid driver’s license. Court records do not list an attorney.
