UPDATE: Mercy Medical Center now says Krista Mary is listed in serious condition. She was listed in critical Wednesday night.
UPDATE: Mason City Police announced Thursday morning that the teenage driver has been cited for failure to yield to pedestrian and use of electronic communication device while driving.
Authorities say the crash is still being investigated.
MASON CITY, IA – A pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle in Mason City Wednesday afternoon is hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
According to Mason City police, 33-year-old Krista Mary of Mason City was hit by a car driven by a teenager at about 3:30 p.m. The accident happened on State Street near Connecticut Avenue. Mary was taken to Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa where she has undergone surgery for her injuries.
There are no charges filed yet against the driver, though police say charges are pending.
