Police identify woman killed by train in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Iowa (AP) — Police have identified a woman killed by a train as she walked along tracks in Fairfield.

The Ottumwa Courier reported (http://bit.ly/13MBmXy ) Tuesday that police identified the woman as 29-year-old Serenity Stone, of Fairfield.

Stone was killed by a BNSF train on Saturday while walking along tracks far from any crossing.

Police Chief Julie Harvey says in a news release that railroad tracks are private property and people aren’t allowed near them except at designated crossings.
