CHARLES CITY, IA – Authorities have added several charges in a burglary arrest made last week.
As of Monday, Randy Patrie, of Charles City, was charged with third degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, two counts of possession of stolen property, possession of a firearm as a felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
It started on the evening of July 4 with a report of a home burglary on the 500 block of 6th Avenue in Charles City. Police couldn’t find a suspect. During the investigation, officers used a search warrant to look for stolen property at 601 7th Avenue, where they found several items believed to be stolen during different burglaries including several firearms stolen from Gilbert’s Sale Yard in Floyd on May 2.
Several drugs and drug-related items were also found on the property.
The Division of Criminal Investigation got involved in the case, and as of Tuesday several more charges were filed, including two counts of unauthorized possession of an offensive weapon and second degree burglary. He was re-arrested Tuesday and taken to the Floyd County Jail.
