KIMT NEWS 3 — If you’re out enjoying Mother Nature, you might pick up an unwanted friend along the way.
Mosquitoes and ticks are out in numbers this year.
With the wet weather we’ve seen, that is increasing the amount of these unwanted pests.
Whether it’s camping or just playing outside, health experts say you need to protect yourself, as mosquitoes and ticks can spread diseases that can severe problems.
“Well, we really need to focus on our other preventative measures, such as using insect repellent, that have deet or other active compounds that are equally effective,” Dr. Abinash Virk of the Mayo Clinic said.
When using repellent, she says you should put it on exposed skin and not all over your body.
