DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Gov. Terry Branstad has issued a disaster emergency proclamation for Van Buren County following severe weather in southeast Iowa.
Branstand announced Friday that the proclamation activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Program.
The program provides grant money of up to $5,000 for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level. That’s a maximum annual income of nearly $40,000 for a family of three.
The money can be used to fix cars, replace clothing or food, or for temporary housing.
