Fitness Friday: Full-Body Strength Training

KIMT NEWS 3 – It’s time for Fitness Friday! Strength training is an important part of overall fitness.

Annie Szatkowski is pumping some iron to show us how we can benefit from a solid full body workout.

Annie is back at Cutting Edge Fitness in Clear Lake to work with personal trainer, Jason Laube. He’s taking us through a full body workout to burn calories and build strength.

First we start with some simple burpees..easy enough…but we immediately move to kettle bell swings.

That’s the main idea – keeping the rest times to a minimum for max results and calorie burning.

Jason says we can expect to burn between 300-500 calories in a workout like this.

This kind of training goes off the same principle of the HIIT cardio workout – Getting the most bang for your buck by working all parts of the body.

We also add in a little bit of cardio with the rowing machine. It’s the perfect mix of using all different muscle groups. Pushing your strength and endurance while keeping up your heart rate.

After that the hardest part was actually getting out of the machine.

It’s one more exercise and the first round is complete. Ideally that routine should be completed three times through.

Because the benefits of this type of exercise are just too good to pass up.
