ALBERT LEA, MN — With construction well underway in downtown Albert Lea, some changes are being made when it comes to parking in the area.
Police are enforcing two-hour parking in the parking lot behind Tiger City Sports.
Cars parked in the middle aisle will be subject to the change.
Before construction, two-hour parking was rarely enforced in the lot with many employees leaving their cars there.
Now, the move is being done to accommodate the downtown businesses.
“We hope it gives us the turnover we need to keep them coming and going all day for these businesses,” Officer Jason Taylor of the Albert Lea Police Department said. “With not enforcing the other parking lots, it should allow for long-term parking for those who need space for their employees.”
He says the parking lot behind tiger city sports will be the only one where they enforce two-hour parking.
Folks who don’t follow the change will be ticketed.
