Police responded July 5 to a home invasion call.

Hawkins and another man, 52-year-old Michael Eugene Walker, are suspected of breaking into a home, beating the occupants and threatening them with guns. Police say Hawkins refused to relinquish his weapon and pointed it at officers. Hawkins did not fire any shots at police.

Walker was taken into custody unharmed. He is charged with first-degree burglary, assault causing injury, intimidation with a dangerous weapon and felon in possession of a firearm.
