Iowa man convicted of keeping withheld taxes

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — A Cedar Rapids man faces up to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to failing to forward federal taxes he had withheld from employees’ paychecks to the IRS.

Eric Holub pleaded guilty Friday in federal court in Cedar Rapids.

In a plea agreement, the 45-year-old owner of a private security business admitted that at various times from 2008 through 2011, he failed to forward the money he withheld from his employees’ paychecks and pay other taxes he owed.

Sentencing has not been set. Holub remains free pending sentencing.
