AUSTIN, MN — Folks in Austin could have a new place to turn to, to get in shape!
Austin Vision 2020 organizers are exploring the possibility of building a new community recreation center.
But they’re not doing it alone.
Several organizations, including the Austin YMCA, Parks and Rec, The Austin School District and Riverland Community College Could be involved.
And it could save the groups money down the line.
“Some of these facilities that are really expensive to maintain can be shared and we can cut down on the operation costs and everybody meet their programming needs,” Austin Vision 2020 Director Laura Helle said. “But, yet, everybody has an operation budget that is a little tight. So, that’s the idea. It’s really about cooperation.”
Vision is 2020 is currently awaiting the results of a study done on the project; it should be ready by the first part of August.
